"Rows of American Redwoods stand like tall guardians either side of the long
driveway welcoming visitors to Ashe Hall near the tiny villages of Etwall and
Sutton on the Hill. In the afternoon sun, light shimmers through their
branches, casting long grey shadows across the sumptuous gardens mingling with
a kaleidoscope of colourful flowers and sweet-smelling perfumes. Colours
seem brighter, and scents are stronger. As you approach this most special
of places, all thoughts of a go-faster, work harder world melt away..."

"Plenty of walks were taken in the gardens of the house, a 19th century mansion
that retains 38 acres of its original estate. The formal gardens, pond
and tennis court are still visible under the rather more woolly growth and tree
planting that has taken over. My room was in the courtyard, simple and
warm with fresh flowers and fruit, a country view and a collection of very exotic
tea bags."
The Daily Telegraph
"The Barn is one of the latest initiatives at Ashe Hall and now this superb
complex is being opened to the general public as a Bed & Breakfast facility. Set
in a secluded courtyard setting at the northern perimeter of the Hall; it is
the perfect location for anyone who wants a peaceful and restful base. Wildlife
abounds, and there are some lovely walks and cycle routes in the immediate area,
and it is not that far away from the Peak District. Add the cafe and shop
together with the general relaxing and calming environment and this could become
a big attraction for tourists."
